Be A Changemaker!
Are you a young student looking to start a social business? Or an adventurous startup dreaming to save the world? Empowering the lives of people become an interesting topic nowadays. myHarapan took this opportunity to organize ASEAN Youth Social Business Summit (YSBS), held on the 4th-5th December 2015 at the Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur to spur the youth towards their interests in social entrepreneurship. Hundreds of participants from mostly youths attended this wonderful event.
YSBS gathered experts from private sectors such as Chan Ying Lock from Garden Impact Investment, government associations like Elaine Tan, the Executive Director of ASEAN Foundation, as well as youth delegates such as Foodabox. The session was a course that held for 2 days, with panel discussions, workshops and brainstorming activities, discussing on various subtopics of a social business. Foodabox was invited on board, was given a booth, and appointed to give a sharing session.
Learn About Foodabox – The First Social Enterprise of Paper Food Box Supplier in Malaysia
Being the first social enterprise of paper food box supplier in Malaysia, Foodabox became an interesting
social enterprise among the others in the Youth Social Business Summit. The youths learned about how Foodabox innovates the conventional food box into a tool to benefit advertisers and at the same time, help the food operators to replace their harmful polystyrene boxes.
The sharing session was not just about Foodabox, but myHarapan also requested them to share about ‘PechaKucha’. PechaKucha’s 20×20 format is a creative and unique way to structure your presentation to ensure its timeliness, conciseness and fun. It encourages people to maintain a maximum 20 slides (with only images) and allocate 20 seconds for each slide.
Foodabox also opened a booth. Many curios youths came by and learnt what Foodabox does. Apart from being a paper food box supplier, they also found it as a creative way of advertising. People were excited when they talked about the concept of merging paper food box with creative advertising to save the environment.
The session made by myHarapan was quite fulfilling. With line ups of social enterprises all around the
world, youth sharing, industry discussions, fashion shows and breakout sessions, what’s more can a
youth ask for? Hopefully, this creates a stronger youth presence in the social entrepreneurship sector, so more businesses can change the world.
